The Grinding Tedium of Hygiene

During one of Daniel's recent visits to the bathroom, I prompted him to wash his hands, and use soap. At that point, he responded with what any rational person would say:

"It's boring."

"What's boring?"

"Washing hands."

Of course, he's correct. And I'm starting to wonder what the supposed "pay-off" is for this monotonous ritual. There are so many other, better routines that could take its place, such as playing with Spiderman action figures...
