Factories Pollute Less When They Don't Exist
Today's outing, for the Memorial Day holiday, was a swimming trip to a state park, about 45 minutes north-east of our house, way up in "God's country," the great north, with its evergreens and granite and ponds and rich natural beauty. After we paid a whopping $6 entrance fee at the gate, we drove toward the beach, and it turned out that the drive within the park itself was very long and beautiful, and with the windows open, you could breath in the pine-concentrate, infused into the air with the help of the day's hot, moist weather. I pointed this out to the children, and Ian was grateful for a consideration that hadn't even dawned on me:
"I'm glad there is not a factory right next to us."
