World, Mark Your Calendars!

The other morning as he was eating breakfast, Ian shared with me an insight he had gained into the annual calendar:

Ian: Daddy, there are three holidays in November.

I had to think about this one. Then I remembered that school children still get to celebrate Veterans' Day, unlike the adult American workforce, whose extra, "unnecessary" holidays (any number greater than 10) were sacrificed on the altar of corporate "efficiency" many years ago. So I thought I knew what Ian had in mind.

Me: Oh yeah - Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving, and The-Day-After-Thanksgiving.

But no, Ian had a more solemn set of holidays in mind:

"Auntie Jenny's Birthday, Daniel's Birthday, and Thanksgiving!"
