The Lady or the Tiger
Tonight the children had letter-shaped quasi-French-fries as part of supper - you know, those potato French-fry-like things cut into shapes to make them more interesting. Amy apportioned the contents of the package evenly across three plates, but I should have known that distribution would not be that simple. Ian took one plate, but then I asked Daniel which plate he wanted (mistake)...
Me: I don't know. [I could have counted them, but I didn't want to encourage this...]
Daniel: ...Which plate is bigger?
Me: They're the same.
Daniel: Which plate has flowers?
[Both plates were white and blue - one with a more solid blue center than the other, but one had a floral trim. I showed him which one had flowers...]
Eventually Daniel selected the plate that wasn't "too blue." I suspect that blueness was probably less of a factor for him, though, than the fact that the other plate had flowers on the trim.
