In Search of Shiboleth
Now that Ian can read, and therefore spell, Amy and I cannot convey anything with even a trace of encryption in our conversations in front of him. We used to use Spanish, but that didn't really work.
Tonight, Amy was trying to ask me if the children could watch Bambi as their evening activity. She started, stopped, probably contemplated spelling, and obviously gave up. At that point, I told her something like "It's really time for you to learn a language or something."
The worst part is that Ian completely understood this advice, and the humor behind it, and laughed hardily.
