All The News That's Fit to Recount
Ian was telling me the other day about how his teacher almost always issues topics for the students to cover in their essay-writing exercises, but once in a great while, she actually lets them pick whatever subject they choose. He was telling me about one such recent occasion, when they were allowed to write on the topic of their choice:
"And I began to write about what happened when me, Golden and Daniel played Batman."
I actually wrote about this same topic a few months ago, when it first happened, and the remarkable image of a seven-year old and five-year-old boy, and two-year-old girl, and a one-year-old fluffly little white puppy, all running around the house wearing capes. Golden's had an actual Batman logo on it.
I was impressed that this was a sufficiently powerful memory for Ian that he chose it, among all other potential topics, for a bout of free-style prose composition.
