Temperance is a technicality

My father was a bit horrified when I had my first drink of wine. He gave me a sip, and, the report goes, I licked my lips and raved, "Yummm! That was delicious!! I want to drink more of that!!!"

On a completely separate note, Daniel has a strange sense of glamorization around the subject of "grown-up drinks." I never give him even a sip of my wine: I'm not only Irish, but also Scottish, after all... But still he wants to simulate the indulgence in grown-up drinks. Lately he has been drinking "Recharge" - the organic hippy's equivalent of Gatorade, and we have several flavors or, more importantly for the boys, several colors. Daniel is disappointed that the berry-flavored Recharge is gone, because it looks remarkably like "a grown-up drink" - especially in a wine glass, which he requested for it, and had me lift him up to the higher cabinet shelves so that he could pick it out [Originally he Publish Postwanted to drink it in a small vase, but that was nixed.]

And when he requested a re-fill of the beverage in question, he asked for it in the same wine glass "so that we can bump glasses together and then drink."
