Two Lads - The Ian and Daniel Chronicle

Daniel made the following request today:

"Daddy, when you get more money, can you buy me - like - a big pool with a ladder on it?"

Ironically, aside from the matter of getting more money (I guess five-year-olds don't understand the full circle of cash flow), pools are the one "asset" I would never, ever contemplate with small children such as young Daniel. When we were looking at houses to buy, no matter how excited Amy would get about the prospect of buying a house with a pool, I was adamant about avoiding real estate with swimming pools, with Daniel in mind more than anybody else. I remember at the time telling somebody, "I want a pool for me, but I don't want one for Daniel."
