Somehow, they always land on their paws again.

I tripped in the kitchen tonight and accidentally stepped on one of the dogs' toes (Golden's). Luckily, I was barefoot and I just stepped on it with the edge of my own toes, but he still let out a little yelp. I felt bad, but Ian, who has experienced this kind of inadvertent-offense-and-canine-apology cycle himself, offered his own perspective:

"When that kind of thing happens, even on accident, and you try to say you're sorry, he'll just walk away from you... but he still likes me."
