Egypt - Different Generations, Different Perspectives
Daniel has a unique perspective on the protests/potential revolt taking place right now in Egypt. He came by while I was sitting on the floor, following coverage of it, on my laptop, at the Guardian's website http://www.guardian.co.uk - staggeringly better than the U.S. establishment's stenographers otherwise known as "The Networks". And the main page showed a tank in Cairo, swarmed by protesters, with soldiers in fatigues standing on top of the vehicle.
Some people would look at this picture and experience fear - some for the protesters, some for the spectacularly promising "peace process," some for the survival of American hegemony in the region. Others would see that picture and experience hope - for the Egyptian public, for example. But when Daniel saw this emotionally-charged picture, he only saw one thing: "Army Guys."
His instant reaction was to say, "Daddy, there's some army guys! Daddy, leave it on there, and Ill show you one of my army guys."
I dutifully left the browser set on that picture of the Cairo protesters, and Daniel diligently hopped off to find a small, plastic toy soldier, and brought it back, holding it up to complete the "Army Guy" motif - now in 3D.
