Abandonment With Baby-Sitters

I just learned today that when Amy has a hard time getting Daniel to get ready to go out places, she tells him that if he doesn't go, she'll have to leave him at the house, and he's alone at the house, then the police will have to come and get him (since children can't be alone in the house)...

Well... tonight we have baby-sitters coming tonight, so Amy and I can have our annual date (which is also brother-in-law's birthday party), and Daniel raised a logical objection to the prospect of us leaving the young'uns at home (even with baby-sitters) as we go out:

"But Mommy, if you leave us here, then the police will come and get us."
