Weeding out the Serious

Daniel showed me how his plastic scuba-diving toy was on a string, and he used the Socratic method to bring me around to understanding that the string served a purpose:

Daniel: Daddy, does this look silly?

Me: I don't know - what do you think?

Daniel: No, it looks serious.

Soon after our teaching moment, he went on to enlighten Ian:

"Ian, some things that look silly, are actually serious."
