Gone to the Dogs

Tonight was very warm for late October - it felt more like late August - and I drove the boys home after we all went out for dinner, and it was raining ever-so-slightly, and since it was Daddy driving, the boys were permitted to seize the day, and put their windows down and stick their hands out the window and catch the rain and talk about how it felt like little bullets, all of which they enjoyed immensely. [Meanwhile, I headed the wrong way on the Interstate and found myself in the wrong state (as in "these United") within a few minutes, but we won't get into that...]

It was pure catharsis. Daniel shrieked playfully at a high pitch, both boys were very excited, and finally Ian yelped, "This is dog paradise!"

Then he went on to explain:

"Dog paradise is when you stick your head out the window and pant. ...And smile."

[I asked him where he heard that, and he told me he thought it up himself.]
