More On Prince Edward Island: The Looming Atlantis of Fiddle-Music
Prince Edward Island is an enchanted topic for us. We've never been there - except Mommy, before she met Daddy. I have a long post dedicated to Prince Edward Island, from about a year ago, where I talk about how completely taken we all are with a promotional CD of folksy country and Celtic music we have that came seemingly randomly in the mail several years ago from the Prince Edward Island's board of tourism. We really love the music (I'm not exaggerating) - including the song "Prince Edward Island," which is pure commercial. We found the CD the other evening, and went back to jigging in the living room (now Madeleine along with the rest of us). Both boys like to blast the fiddly Prince Edward Island theme song and dance in wild circles, and we all bellow out the chorus of PRINCE ED-WARD IS-LAND
So now they want to know more about that semi-mythical land on some distant edge of the planet.
Ian: Is it real? - I think it is.
[I assured him that it is.]
Daniel: Is Prince Edward Island the country on the other side of the world... Daddy, Where's Prince Edward Island?
Me: It's in Canada.
Daniel [pointing methodically with his whole arm in each of the four directions]: Is it over there, or over there, or over there, or over there?
I figured out which way is north, and then I could give them a definitive answer.
