Cutting to the Chase

Ian loves to call his aunt to tell her about the trials and tribulations of his life, which apparently are overwhelmingly focused around Daniel, and find an sympathetic ear.

This past summer, he called her up and made small-talk, humoring her in all her superficial little questions about what-have-you-been-doing-lately, but apparently at one point, it was really time to move on to the heavy stuff. He suddenly proposed: "We should talk about my problems now."
