The Perfect Pet

We have two frogs, three guinea pigs, one rabbit... Until recently we had two dogs, and Amy's dog campaign is in full gear again. We have had several hermit crabs... But Ian has been trying to figure out what the ideal pet would be, and I think he's onto something:

He mention the prospect of a dolphin as a pet, talking to Daniel, and then he asked me, "How do we get a dolphin? We may need to go online for that."

Within a couple of minutes, he followed up with more concrete instructions:

"Daddy, can you please go on the computer 'Dolphins for pets' and we can look at dolphin for pets?"

He saw me writing down his request and, although I'm sure he knew it was intended for the blog, he remarked, "I'm glad you're writing it down, Daddy, so I can get a pet dolphin."

Later, a practical consideration about how to ensure several generations of pets: "I'm gonna keep my dolphins so that they can get married. I might actually want to have three of each."
