Yard Sale
This past Saturday, Ian handed me a roughly triangular scrap of paper, vaguely approximating the shape of New York State, which he ripped out from his easel, and asked me to write on it, which I did, "YARD SALE FROM 2 CENTS TO $6". Beneath that message, he had me write "SIGNED" and leave a space for his name. Over the course of the day, he strewed all kinds of items - old roller skates and other toys, for the most part - across the front stairs of our house and put the sign in the middle of them, with the following enhancements, written by him in red ink around the blue-ink message that I wrote in the middle of the sign:
"TO PUT MUNEY Leve Mune
And beneath "SIGNED":
TO Ian
I am six
I am in KINDGRDIN
LEV MUME IN red (with an arrow pointing to a red coin box).
Ian was very excited about this, and when we went out, he was speculating as to who might come by and make purchases at his honor-system-based emporium. I told him he might not get customers because, even though there's a sign, it's not really visible from the street.
To remedy the signage deficiency, yesterday he made new signs - post it's, for the most part consisting of arrows pointing toward the yard sale. One is on our mailbox, pointing toward the porch.
