The Exciting Wonder of Creation

Ian was asking some line of questions about biology - the make-up of the human body, or something like that, and so I decided to introduce the idea of the multi-cellular creature and the category of cell itself, as a kind of miniature model of the same kind of self-sufficient life support system of the larger organism of which it is a part. Admittedly, I only took two biology courses in my life - one in high school and one in college, and in both cases really to satisfy distribution requirements - and I'm sure I wasn't very articulate or entirely accurate in my portrayal of cellular life, but somehow he was very interested in it, and listened intensely as we drove around the mall parking lot looking for a space.

After our conversation had completed and a parking space had been found, as I was getting Ian out of the car, he proclaimed:

"Daddy, that was a crazy, interesting, exciting talk that we just had!"
