"We are the Champions, My Friend"

"My two things to show off are my trophy and my medal. I can't believe I won things. Not many kids can do that, right Daddy?"

His medal is for participation in the Lego League afternoon program at a local Montessori school. His trophy, of which he's extremely proud, and which he has actually, at times, kept in the car with him to have nearby as he goes out for the day, is from when the pig which I was assigned to root for, at a state fair, actually won a race that lasted for approximately two minutes. When that happened, he immediately appropriated the " trophy" - a three-inch-tall shiny-gold-colored plastic trophy, and he took immense pride in our great triumph. To this day, he keeps it in a prominent place in his room, and admires it from time to time.
