A Matter of Taste
Yesterday, Ian had a sausage which turned out to be too spicy - which doesn't take much for him - so he tried to wash away the spicy after-taste with ginger ale.
I didn't know the spiciness was such a problem, so I offered him another sausage - this time one believed to be somewhat less spicy than the other variety - and this is how he declined the offer:
Ian: I've still got some spice on my tongue; the ginger ale doesn't wash it away.
At that point, Daniel asked a relevant question about ginger ale itself, although I had thought we were still on the primary topic of sausages:
Daniel: Hey Daddy, does it taste like ginger ale?"
Me: What, the sausage?
Daniel: No, the ginger ale.
(That is, Daniel was wondering whether ginger ale tastes like ginger ale...)
