Discerning the Essence of Country Music
Ian was eagerly thumbing down the FM dial last night, trying to find suitable bedtime music (not *my* ritual, I can assure you...). He's quite eclectic. Sometimes he'll yell something along the lines of "Mommy, I found Classic! Come listen to Classic!" But he clearly has a taste for the wilder stuff, both of the headbanger variety and hip-hop.
But I do think he's particularly drawn to country music; I think his babysitter turned him onto it. To make sure he was aware of the genre, I told him it was country music.
At first he got excited and asked, "Kindermusik" (something a little closer to home).
I corrected him: "No, country music."
At that point, I think he listened a bit more closely, and then offered this perfect insight:
"It's got a little bit of farm in it."
