The Clothes Make The Man, Especially if the Man is Greg

Ian and Daniel are having a protracted argument about which Wiggle Daniel is going to be in the upcoming Wiggles' concert. Daniel prefers Greg and Sam, who wear yellow, and Murray, who wears red. He told me recently that he doesn't like Anthony and Jeff, because they were blue and "black' (actually purple), respectively. Of course, if you wear a color that's not one of his favorites, there's no compelling reason for Daniel to like you...

Ian, who has some definite Torquemada potential, has been lecturing Daniel about how he can't be Greg because we already *have* Greg (in the person of a four-inch-tall Greg doll). Daniel is taking the bait, and explained to Ian:

"If I want to be Anthony, I need Anthony clothes; if I want to be Greg, I need Greg clothes."

It turns out that Daniel's lack of Anthony clothes, by itself, rules out the prospect of him being Anthony.

At one point, he was prepared to make a small concession, with the following caveat:

"Ian, even if I'm Anthony, I'm not going to be Anthony for long."

I'm now telling Daniel that he can be any Wiggle he wants to be. It's taking him awhile to digest this radical possibility.
