Post-Modern Art and the New Adhesive

Ian was extremely pleased with a project that he had worked on while I was upstairs, this afternoon, and he insisted that I come downstairs to admire it.

Things were off to a bad start when I tried to look at his work from the staircase itself, but he told me I had to come all the way down so I could see the wall.

The lad was not bluffing: the art project, as it turned out, was on the wall just below the stairs, and it consisted of several wooden blocks somehow attached to the wood paneling of the wall itself. We are renting this house, so I was a bit short of breath...

I didn't know where to start, but I proceeded:

"Who did that?"

- Me and Daniel.

"Does Mommy know?"

- No.

What's holding the blocks to the wall?

- Spit.

It's rather rare for revulsion and relief to run together as closely as they did at that moment.
