Adaptation Trumps Accommodation
One of today's big projects was finding Ian a long-sleeved shirt that he's willing to wear - he's pretty picky, we haven't really gotten his Fall-Winter-early-Spring clothes out yet, and he has grown significantly over the summer. The past few days have been pretty cold, so I have been insistent that he wear a long-sleeved shirt, and I thought we had finally agreed on one, but a couple of minutes ago, I saw him wearing a short-sleeved shirt.
However, he quickly reassured me that the body adjusts to its climate, and that things like "hot" and "cold" are really pretty relative:
"Daddy, this shirt is going to be warmer than I thought, once I wear it for awhile."
