Know Thyself

This evening, I was explaining to Ian that a computer bug was likely responsible for the printer printing out garbage. He was very interested in bugs, so I explained them to a point, and finally said, "Some day I'll teach you how to program." [Not an idle threat, I would have taught him at least a few lines up front if he had shown any interest. But that's not what happened: ]

Ian: No thanks! I'm gonna be working on something different.

Me: What are you going to be working on?

Ian: Trains - I'm gonna be an engineer when I grow up.
