Ian, preserver of sleep

This morning, at 7-something, Ian came hopping into our bedroom, where Amy and I were attempting sleep, and Madeleine was running the occasional "You're not asleep, are you?" program, lying between us.

He was hopping and absolutely beaming, and I quickly figured out that this was because they're going to Bounce U today. (He volunteered this information, as well.) He was crawling around the bed, bouncing a bit, looking for things to do, and occasionally, as I'd open my eyes in an occasional fit of realism amidst quite absurd attempt to go back to sleep, I'd see that his face would be about three inches from mine, and he'd be making some wonderfully goofy funny-face while also smiling. He also cuddled next to me in all kinds of different angles and holds, just bouncing with enthusiasm.

Finally, he made a suggestion that prevented me from my otherwise raucous attempt at retrieving a wink of sleep: "We'd better go downstairs so we don't wake up Mommy and Madeleine."
