Circumstancial Evidence
Ian has a tendency not only to report Daniel's misdeeds in extensive, quantitative detail, but to follow up the report with any visual evidence of Daniel's lingering lack of contrition - usually attributed to a smile on the lad's face. But Daniel is finally learning how to defend himself from these gratuitous assumptions:
Ian (at the end of a report): ...and he's smiling because he did it.
Daniel: I don't have a lying smile on me, Daddy.
