On the Bad Ship Lollipop

This evening, the boys attended, among other things, a talent show, and Ian was telling me about one particular girl who sang in it. The details of his description made no sense (there was a lot going on at the time of the recounting), so later on, on the way home, I asked him about it again.

It turned out that the performance in question was that of a little girl singing Shirley Temple's notorious "On the Good Ship Lollipop." The words are highly cloying: something about "it's a nice trip into bed you hop, and dream away, happy landings on peppermint bay. Lemonade stands everywhere..." etc. The gist of it is that bedtime amounts to a candy-world fantasy.

In any case, Ian showed good sense in his panning of the song. In summary: "it's only about desserts."
