Pajamas Are Bad

Believe it or not, it's a bit of task getting Daniel to bed. But it becomes the Task of Sisyphus* when he's dressed like Greg at pajamas-time. As I to put on his pajama-bottoms, his legs were in perpetual motion squirming to get out of them, so that he could put on "Greg's" probably-filthy-by-now black polyester Spandex slacks to match his not-yet-successfully-removed, and clearly filthy, yellow "Greg" turtleneck, of which we speak so often. No amount of pointing out all the nifty saws and screwdrivers and tape-measures in his pajamas' pattern did the trick, even when I contrasted them with my own boring plaid sweatpants.

Along with his acts of civil disobedience came the verbal protests:

"I don't want to wear pajamas... Pajamas are bad..."

and

"I don't want to be dressed like Daniel. I want to be dressed like Greg."

*Sisyphus is the naughty man in Greek mythology whose style of hospitatlity involved killing his guests for personal gain, and as a result, was given the torment in the underworld of a job description that involved rolling a huge boulder up a hill, only to have it roll down again immediately, prompting him to start his shift all over again. Before the Industrial Revolution - and our postmodern own age of Cubicle Work - it was actually considered unusual to do the same thing over and over and over again...
