Induction is the Highest Form of Flattery

Everyone knows that Daniel's doppelganger is Greg the Wiggle, and that this pervades TwoLads culture. Until recently, I thought it was an exclusive thing - kind of a generational statement, and that I would never be privy to the private world of The Gregs. But all of that changed.

The other night, Daniel came up to me and handed me Ian's yellow turtleneck and his own (other) pair of black polyester pants, and said, "Daddy, you can get dressed like Greg."

I was extremely moved by the gesture. He actually wanted me to join him. (Of course at that moment, he was already Gregified, in full regalia, so he was inviting me to look exactly like him.) For some reason, Ian's Greg-shirt didn't fit, but I put it over my head, like a hat. Daniel made it clear that even draping it over my shoulders, across the back of my neck, would suffice for induction, in light of my size limitation.

Last night, again he was looking for Greg-garb for me (in the laundry basket, usual). As he looked through it, he said "Daddy, I'm tryin'a think of more Greg clothes for you." At the end of his search, he said, "Sorry Daddy, I only could find one Greg clothe [really, "clove"], and it's for Ian."

On the night that I actually succeeded in becoming a Greg, I dutifully sang "Wiggly Party," (as best I could, which is lame), and he grinned and danced to it.

It's really wonderful to belong.
