My Name is Greg
Today, as is so often the case, Daniel is Greg. Daniel sometimes metamorphs into a Wiggle - usually Greg, although sometimes Murray, whom he called, until recently, "Mary." You know he's Greg by a number of telltale indicators:
1. He's wearing a yellow turtleneck.
2. He's wearing black pants.
3. When you call him "Daniel," he says, "My name is not Daniel. My name is Greg."
4. When address him with terms of endearment, he'll say "Daddy, my name is not Baby. My name is Greg."
5. When you scoop him up and say, "Let's change this boy," he yelps, "I'm not a boy! I'm a Wiggle!"
But today he's in Wiggle-overdrive. He was Greg the other day, and his Greg wardrobe became officially laundry-bound, but he salvaged it before it could go into the wash, this morning, and put it on. It wasn't that hard to tell he dressed himself (beyond the fact that he was wearing dirty clothes), because the yellow turtleneck is on inside-out.
To make matters more compelling, he is using his birthday present every chance he gets. Amy went to Toys R Us on his birthday (where he received a birthday balloon and a birthday discount), and bought him the top item from his wish-list: a Wiggles guitar.
A Wiggles Guitar is a lot like a regular guitar - particular in terms of its external form - with the following exceptions:
1. It has buttons on it rather than strings.
2. The buttons play recordings of Wiggles songs when you push them.
3. Some of the buttons have pictures of Wiggles on them.
In any case, he spent both his birthday evening and this morning pushing those buttons, with the new Fab Four's faces on them, and dancing around, guitar in hand, singing, "Hot potato hot potato, hot potato, hot potato hot potato, hot potato hot potato, hot potato hot potato, potato, potato, potato... Cold spaghetti cold spaghetti, cold spaghetti cold spaghetti, [etc.] - not to mention the song about the Big Red Car, and something about "We like to say hello to you."
Ian sometimes joins in the dancing and singing, and sometimes refrains, being somewhat advanced in years and all...
Needless to say, every time even one of them sings and dances, it's worth every second to watch.
