Daddy for President

Ian has chosen a new career path for me. It's not because he thinks I'd be the best commander-in-chief that our bold republic could select. It's because, in learning about the transition from the Bush to Obama administrations, he discovered that Barack Obama is going to live where he works - in the White House - and his family is going along with him.

All of this came up, because previously, he had come under the impression that Barack was going to move into the White House, but Michelle, Sasha and Malia were not, and he was concerned that our future president was apparently effectively abandoning his family for a new career. When Amy explained the nuance that they're all going to live in the White House, and Barack is going to work there as well, he decided that it would be good if I could get that job, since then I wouldn't have to maintain this silly ritual of driving 38 miles to be away from my family for a total of ten or 11 hours a day.

Another thought he had about the new first family: when he learned that Barack's wife's name was Michelle, he asked Amy, "Is Barack Obama's wife the same Michelle who cuts our hair?"
