The Navy - where every day is your birthday

Amy took Daniel to visit a (now retired) submarine on display at a navy base during our vacation [I stayed in the car with Ian and Madeleine, who were sleeping], and when we arrived in the parking lot, a number of sailors in white hats were apparently coming off their shift, so we saw several of them at once.

Amy took Daniel through the submarine, and then did a quick recapitulation of the experience, for his long-term retention. In the course of memory refreshment and probing, she asked him, "So, Daniel, do you know what the navy is?" and he said "Yeah - boats and people in party hats."
