I'm not happy when Ian takes away this snake

Finding me out in the front yard, Daniel asked me to take him to the edge of the yard, where the woods begin, with the concrete knowledge that a particular wooden snake was lying there, ready for retrieval.

I took him over to where the toy snake was, gave it to him, and he thanked me hardily. I said "So you're happy to have the snake back?" and he said "Yeah, because I'm not happy when Ian takes away this snake."

[Of course Ian, as soon as he saw Daniel with the snake, tried to get me to take it from him, invoking concern for hygiene, since the snake had some dirt on it.]
