July 28, 2008: A Small Seat for Man, A Giant Seat for Mankind
I finally got around to dragging up from the garage Daniel's (formerly Ian's, probably someday Madeleine's) wonderfully timeless little wooden seat ,with a very modern plastic bowl contained therein, and setting it up in a room fit for such devices - just this past weekend - and Daniel drew inspiration from it yesterday, and made two distinct trips - each one marking a new milestone toward the world of the diaper-independence.
When I came home (to find him setting in the [full] kiddie pool in the side yard, fully clad, including his blinking fire-engine shoes - but that's another story), I asked Mommy whether who, in our house, knew how to use the potty, and she told me that Daniel was now in those ranks, I made the appropriate squeals of delight, to a sunnily-grinning, soaking Daniel, and I sang him the chorus of Mr. Rogers' "I'm Proud of You," which was intended precisely for this kind of milestone.
July 28, 2008 - a kind of graduation date for Young Daniel, of whom we are all very, very proud.
