Child Prodigy
Yes. We shouldn't brag, but the youngster seems like he might be highly gifted...
Today (October 11) Ian had his first violin lesson with his teacher, Chris, now that his violin has arrived.
According to Mommy:
1. When Chris asked him what the "bridge" of the violin was, Ian answered: "It's a bridge," and later reinforced the metaphor - "People walk on bridges."
2. When Chris handed Ian the violin, he held it (for the very first time) better than any of Chris's child-students have, to date.
3. When Chris asked him which was his right and left hands, he knew immediately.
This right/left awareness is consistent with a beautiful moment from a few days ago.
We spent the latter part of Columbus Day Weekend in Connecticut, visiting Auntie Ann and Uncle George and The Cousins. When we set out to visit Booth Park in Stratford, Ann took a right turn, but Amy, who was supposed to follow her, took a left, because she was too busy monitoring/guiding her husband's cellular phonecall to the pediatrician to take the proper turn.
As we attempted the elaborate turn-around, Ian mused, "Mommy, why didn't you turn right? Auntie Ann told you to turn right?"
Wisdom abounds.
